I used a 12AU7 in self-split push-pull for my last reverb driver. You may choose to implement the mod in several ways and in various combinations with the ground switch or a foot pedal.

I suppose one could crank the reverb level to full and hear more relative differences, but that's pretty specialized. You must first remove all existing wires to the external rdverb jack so that it is totally separated from the main speaker jack.
